Emergency Response, Hotlines, and Community Services

  • Rape Trauma Services of San Mateo County strives to eliminate all forms of violence with a special focus on sexual assault and abuse. | call +1 (650) 692-RAPE (7273)

  • StarVista Crisis Center offers both an all ages 24/7/365 crisis hotline at for residents of San Mateo County (call +1 (650) 579-0350) and a Teen Crisis Hotline from 4:30–9:30pm PST (call +1 (650) 747-6463).

    • NOTE: StarVista also offers support for clients who may not otherwise be able to access mental health services.

  • San Mateo County Community Services is a central list of government assistance, support for children, teens & families, emergency contacts, and reporting of abuse or violence.

  • Communities Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA) provides 24/7/365 safety, emergency housing and legal support, and healing for individuals who have or are experiencing abuse in an intimate relationship. | call +1 (800) 300-1080

  • MNDFL and MNDFL TV are an amazing resource for mindfulness and meditation practice, including online trainings, certifications, and practice opportunities.

  • Calm.com and Insight Timer are two popular meditation apps/timers that can be supportive in cultivating a mindfulness practice.

  • The Worry Box Project (temporarily unavailable) is an amazing participatory web-based archive where visitors are welcome to contribute their worries to a virtual box.

  • Virginia Sole-Smith is a feminist writer who works on food and wellness.
